Vegas Baby

Sent off another quilt this week to another great grand niece, this one in Las Vegas.   I have not yet had the pleasure of meeting her yet but have seen many photos.  I must say, she really is beautiful.  Our family seems to be growing by leaps and bounds.  We are all very blessed.

The quilt's name is Peeking Through the Keyhole.

Baby Flip-Flops

I recently received a request from my grand niece for a really cute pair of baby flip-flops she saw on Facebook.  Her 3 1/2 month old daughter, my great grand niece, (WOW....I'm old!!!!!) would love a pair........LOL.  Already she's "into" shoes....a real GIRLIE GIRL !  Gotta love it.

I'm sharing the link below for the pattern.     I very much recommend it if your looking for something quick and easy to make for a special little someone.

The Glass is Half Full

Happy Fourth of July Everyone!

The bad news is Arthur came for the picnic.

The good news is the garden is getting a good watering.

There's always a "good" reason to enjoy the day.
Blessings.

Simple Pleasures

Somedays I am in awe of such simple things.   Although I do enjoy putting laundry on the clothesline, today I noticed how beautiful the flowering shrub was blooming just below the pulley line, and it made a simple pleasure even more special.

I am so very thankful....I just had to share the blessing.

More socks....Oh My!!!

Finally finished these two pair for two special people..... my dear son-in-law for Father's Day (the second sock was a couple of days late.....oops...sorry Todd) and my dear grand daughter who graduated from elementary school this week.  So very proud of her for receiving so many awards, especially the Presidential Scholar Award and Citizenship Award.  Way to go, Megan!
Blessings to both of you.

Blooming Boom!

This time of year is so magical, with all the spring flowers showing off there best finery.  I just had to share.

This rhododendron takes my breath away.

Irises and Day Lilies: a striking combination.
Along the stone wall

Sunshine on a stem!
These pinks remind me of home on Ontario St.,
way back when
All time favorite...so fragrant!
Doreen's Japanese Irises
multiply every year.
A wonderful  and sentimental
 addition to the garden.

The court yard fountain....a tranquil secluded area to sit and read, knit or count my blessings........

A "Pieceful" Day

Listening to the song of a gentle rain as I piece together some quilt blocks, I am reminded of  how very blessed I am.

Knitting on Beavertail

A perfect day to spend at my favorite place.   Clear blue sky, clear blue sea and a delicious salty breeze.   Of course,  the best part of the day was having the view practically all to ourselves.   A little knitting, a little picnic and a lot of happy!
I am blessed.

Wild Thing.... You Make My Heart Sing......

Couldn't resist picking a couple of wild violets growing in our yard.  Somehow when displayed in crystal, they seem as elegant as orchids!  Weeds indeed!  We are blessed.

Grape Jelly on White Bread

Finally finished the quilt for our dear granddaughter who has been away at college.   While she was home visiting for Easter, I unveiled the surprise.  She loves it, especially the name....Grape Jelly on White Bread.  She says that it captures her inner child.  I love how college kids think.  It's so rewarding to make someone happy just using what's on hand.....a total stash quilt.   Also, it was a joint effort with my DH.  What a pleasure it was to work together on something special for someone special to us.  We are blessed.

Peeps Parade

Couldn't resist making these peeps for the grandkids.  Found this free pattern from a Google search.   The pattern called for beads for eyes and nose.  I chose to embroidered these features.  They were really fun and quick to make.  Will probably make a few more to leave in my gift stash.  Will also work well as gift tags for baby gifts.  Think I'll even adapt pattern to make snowmen for Christmas gift tags.  Possibilities are endless!
Easter Blessings to all.

Here's a close-up of one.

Birthday Postcard

A dear friend recently celebrated her birthday, which gave me good reason to hand quilt another special postcard.  As she is a collector of all things "Sunflower" (she actually has a sunflower room), I thought it appropriate to make this to add to her display.   Birthday Blessings to you, my friend.

Finished Future Gifts

Have been getting a head start on my gift stash for the year.  Sometimes I know who I am making them for.  Other times, after they've been completed,  the perfect person they were meant for comes to mind.
These neon pink socks are a special order for
my daughter to give to someone special to her.

These are still waiting to tell me who they belong to!

Crops Are In!

Today was the day to really let go of winter.  Here in Southern New England (away from The Cape) we dodged a big winter storm.  Although the winds were quiet strong and we did lose power, we only got a dusting of snow.  The wind combined with the cold air did make the temperature in the house drop pretty rapidly.  Without pellets for the pellet stove and no hook-up for the oil furnace to the generator, it was pointless to start up the old "gen", especially since it was still daylight.  Within a few hours the power company came through and everything was right as rain again.

So to show good faith in the return of the promise of spring-like weather, I have decide to sow our "crops".   In just a couple of weeks we should have some sprouts!!!

Spring has Sprung

Happy first day of Spring, 2014.

We had to create our own springtime here in New England this year.  Mother Nature and Old Man Winter have conspired to keep our weather cold and dreary.   Undetered, we brought in some forsythia branches and coaxed them to show us their sunny petals.
We are blessed.

Simply Primitive!

Just a little mini quilt with redwork for a special friend's birthday.  She's an avid angel believer.
Wishing her wonderful birthday blessings.
Truly enjoyed working on the hand embroidery.  I especially like the simplicity of the primitive look.  I've already thought of several more projects I plan to do.  My creative juices are running!

Isabella the Great

For my "soon-to-arrive" great grand niece, my newest creation for the family's newest creation.  I've named it Isabella's Pinwheels.

We are all anticipating her "royal"entrance into the world in a few weeks.  I have heard from a very reliable source that she comes from a long line of princesses!

Flower Power

My Valentine brought me a touch of spring to brighten a snowy mid-winter day.  He's the best "Boyfriend" ever.  I am blessed.

Went for a little nature walk today and just had to share the serenity of our nearby brook.  Enjoy the blessing.

Winter Wonderland

As I work on a quilt for a soon to arrive great grand niece, I gaze out my window and am reminded of the beauty and wonder of nature.  We are truly blessed.

Here is the quilt under construction.
And, of course, my faithful assistant.
